Aks a quextion.  

It sounds like something you want, but you don’t.

I tried to make chili today, and succeeded only in making a gigantic mess.

First of all, don’t try to use 1554 Black Ale as a base for chili. Just don’t.

Secondly, don’t assume that your 6 quart kettle will hold a recipe that claims to yield 5 quarts. Claims and actuality may differ drastically.

Finally, what seems to be a simple process can turn into hours of unexpected experimentation if you are trying to mask the flavor of black ale.

That is all I have to say about that. I’m going to eat a sandwich now.
